Many years ago, there was a special birth. You see, the world was filled with so much sin and pain. Humanity had fallen away from God and was held captive by God’s enemy, Satan.
God – who created us – looked at His people with a heavy grief on His heart. He knew that the only way to save us would be to pay the ultimate price. Because God loved us so much, He sent His Son – Jesus Christ – to rescue humanity. This was done so that we can be reunited with God.
So why should we celebrate Christmas? The true meaning of Christmas is the remembrance and celebration of the greatest love and act of sacrifice. It is a time for gratitude as we remember the gruesome sacrifice of Jesus that He gave out of pure love to set us free from guilt and shame.
God has paid the highest price for our salvation. Christmas and Easter remind us of that. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free (Galatians 5:1). We are free from captivity as long as we accept God’s great sacrifice. An incredible act of sacrifice was done so that we can have a restored relationship with the One who loves us the most – God. However, the choice to be free is yours. We will never be free unless we accept Jesus into our heart.
This Christmas, God wants you to know that His love for you is unchanging. He loves you despite your flaws and mistakes. If you have not received Jesus into your heart, the greatest gift you can give Him this Christmas – his birthday – is making the decision to do so. It does not matter what you’ve done or how broken you are. There is nothing you can do that can ever change His love for you. If you choose to accept Jesus into your heart, you become a child of God – a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Only a good father would sacrifice everything for His children. That is what our heavenly Father did.
This Christmas, do something different. Think of the One who gave it all just to have you.
