Even if you don’t celebrate it, you’ve almost definitely heard of Christmas. It is a day marked on calendars all over the world. Lots of hype is made as Christmas draws near. But why?
Imagine this: It is your birthday. You are excited for all the love you’ll receive that day. But alas! No one pays any attention to you. In fact, people are giving gifts – but not to you! They seem to be giving it to each other, forgetting the fact that today is meant to be all about YOU. They have forgotten all about you.
Gift-giving during Christmas is not a bad thing. It is an act of love towards one another. However, we cannot neglect the real reason for the season – Jesus.
Christmas isn’t selfish, it is about love. It is a day to think of others, including those who are less fortunate and are perhaps struggling in life. It is a time to reach out to those around you and give them the warmth of your love.
Jesus left His kingdom and all of His spectacular glory because His heart desperately wanted to see us reunited with God. That love and fire in His heart has not changed for you and me. He loves you more than you can ever imagine.
Sometimes we get so caught up in our own lives, that we forget about others.
This Christmas, why don’t you do something different? Think of how you can bless someone else.
If you’re not a follower in Christ, why not ask a Christian friend of yours to tell you more about Jesus – the birthday boy – and the great heavenly sacrifice He made for you and me?
If you do not have a Christian friend, ask God to talk to you. He is closer than you think. If you invite him to speak to your heart, don’t underestimate the result.
Jesus loves you so much.
Be blessed this Christmas!
